Characteristics associated with outcome in patients with first-ever posterior fossa stroke

European Journal of Neurology May 20, 2018

Villringer K, et al. - Authors attempted to assess imaging and clinical parameters possibly affecting long-term outcome in patients with first-ever posterior fossa stroke. They performed imaging on a 3-T magnetic resonance imaging scanner. For this analysis, 61 of 1795 patients from the observational 1000Plus and LOBI studies were enlisted, meeting the inclusion criteria of first-ever posterior fossa stroke and magnetic resonance imaging examination within 24 h after symptom onset. In first-ever posterior fossa strokes, infarct volume and clinical severity, but not infarct location, were the main contributors to the poor long-term outcome.
