Changes in thickness of central macula and retinal nerve fibre layer in severe hypertensive retinopathy: A 1-year longitudinal study
Acta Ophthalmologica Oct 08, 2017
Lee HM, et al. - This trial contemplated the longitudinal variations in the thickness of the central macula and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL), among patients with hypertensive retinopathy (HTNR), with the aid of the spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). The data exhibited that severe HTNR decreased the thickness of the RNFL and central macula, over time. It was recommended that the effect of retinal changes related to systemic diseases such as hypertension ought to be taken into account for inspecting the thicknesses of the RNFL and central macula in ocular disorders, with the inclusion of retina, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmologic diseases.
