Cervical cancer radiation therapy compliance rates based on the location of radiation therapy
Gynecologic Oncology Mar 19, 2019
Calo C, et al. - Researchers assessed the compliance rates of cervical cancer radiation therapy based on the site of radiation therapy (RT) among 100 candidates diagnosed between January 2000 and December 2016. They noticed candidates who received RT at the primary institution were more inclined to complete RT within 60 days vs those who had RT at different facilities (58.7% vs 24%, respectively). They noted completion of therapy an average of 16.4 days sooner among candidates who underwent all of their RT at the primary institution (75.1 ± 21.3 days vs 58.7 ± 13.2 days). A prolonged RT course (>60 days) was more likely for women who complete external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy at different institutions.
