Central serous chorioretinopathy in elderly subjects: Angiographic and tomographic characteristics
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Dec 21, 2018
Bae K, et al. - Researchers evaluated 176 cases under young vs elder (age 60 years or older) group, to estimate the angiographic, tomographic, and clinical aspects of idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) in elderly subjects. They observed a higher incidence of retinal pigment epithelium depigmentation, foveal thinning, and a double-layer sign in the elderly group compared with the young group implying the association of CSC with a lower resolution of serous detachment, and unfavorable visual consequence in elderly patients. The outcome proposed a chronic outrage to the choroidal vessels comprising severe damage to the outer retinal layers.
