Causal association of adipokines with osteoarthritis: A Mendelian randomization study
Rheumatology Dec 23, 2020
Fan J, Zhu J, Sun L, et al. - A two-sample Mendelian randomization study was conducted to investigate the effects of genetically predicted adipokine levels on osteoarthritis (OA). Data were obtained from a meta-analysis of a genome-wide association study with an overall 50,508 individuals of European ancestry. Researchers performed the Mendelian randomization analyses with inverse-variance weighted, weighted median, and Mendelian randomization-Egger regression. Moreover, they performed sensitivity analyses to evaluate the robustness of our results. The study identified a relationship between genetically predicted leptin level and risk of total OA. They found the relationship of genetically predicted levels of adiponectin, leptin, and resistin with the risk of knee OA.
