Cannabis use in early adulthood is prospectively associated with prescriptions of antipsychotics, mood stabilizers and antidepressants
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica Oct 11, 2019
Rognli EB, et al. - Experts aspired to explore whether the use of cannabis was prospectively associated with prescription of antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, antidepressants and anxiolytics in this study of young adults from the general population. They obtained data on cannabis exposure and relevant confounders from 2,602 people in the longitudinal Young in Norway Study, providing survey data from four data collection waves between 1992 and 2006. Findings suggested an association of past-year cannabis use with later prescriptions of antipsychotics, mood-stabilizers and antidepressants.
