Can improving patient hand hygiene impact Clostridium difficile infection events at an Academic medical center?

Pokrywka M, et al. - Authors undertook this study to increase patient hand hygiene (PHH) and to examine if PHH affected Clostridium difficile (CD) infection (CDI) at their hospital. They observed that PHH opportunities can be increased by providing education and opportunities for patients to clean their hands. they recommended considering PHH a relevant preventative measure for CDI in hospitalized patients.
