Body fatness at a young age, body fatness gain and risk of breast cancer: Systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies
Obesity Reviews | Nov 16, 2017
Hidayat K, et al. - A systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies was conducted to assess the association between body fatness at a young age and body fatness gain with risk of breast cancer. It was shown that in both pre- and post-menopausal women, higher body fatness at a young age has a protective role in the later development of breast cancer. It was recommended that the potential benefit not be overemphasized, as the observations suggested that increased body fatness gain from a young age was positively associated with post-menopausal breast cancer risk. This analysis therefore justified the need to maintain a steady weight throughout life.
