Blood pressure levels in the acute phase after intracerebral hemorrhage are associated with mortality in young adults
European Journal of Neurology Jul 15, 2018
Mustanoja S, et al. - This study draws on data from the Helsinki ICH Young Study to evaluate the link between blood pressure (BP) and mortality in consecutive patients with first-ever, non-traumatic acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) at ≤50 years of age. BP parameters were systolic BP (SBP), diastolic BP (DBP), mean arterial pressure and pulse pressure (SBP-DBP) at admission and 24-hour, and delta BP parameters. It was observed that acute-phase SBP levels ≥ 160 mmHg were independently correlated with increased mortality in young patients with ICH.
