Binocular visual function with staged implantation of diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses with three add powers
American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 23, 2019
Bissen-Miyajima H, et al. - In this prospective comparative case series, both eyes of 56 cases were analyzed to study the binocular visual function and depth of focus after staged implantation of diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs) with 3 distinct add powers following cataract elimination. They noticed worse mean binocular uncorrected visual acuities (BUCVA) in the +4.0 D (group MM) as compared to that in the +2.75 D (group MK) at 0.5 meters. They observed better binocular distance-corrected visual acuities (BDCVA) at 0.5 meters in the +3.25 D (group ML) and MK groups than that in the MM group. They suggested better binocular intermediate visual acuity without degradation of visual function with staged implantation of different add powers.
