Bim is an independent prognostic marker in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
Human Pathology Apr 30, 2018
Zhang H, et al. - Experts scrutinized the role of an important cell apoptosis initiator, Bcl-2 interacting mediator of cell death (Bim), by assessing its expression and association with other clinicopathologic features in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas (ICCs). The expression of Bim in ICC cells and other cellular components was investigated through immunohistochemistry. It was determined that Bim served as a significant and independent prognostic factor in ICC. A connection was disclosed between tumors with high Bim expression with better prognosis through inhibiting tumor cell proliferation and metastatic ability. Findings demonstrated that the development of new agents directly or indirectly targeting Bim could serve as promising anticancer treatments.
