Bilateral balanced occlusion compared to other occlusal schemes in complete dentures: A systematic review
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation Jan 10, 2018
Lemos CAA, et al. - The researchers conducted this systematic review to compare bilateral balanced occlusion (BBO) with other occlusal schemes (canine guidance, lingualized occlusion, and zero degree) in complete dentures. They demonstrated that BBO did not confer better quality of life/satisfaction or masticatory performance and muscle activity. Therefore, in terms of quality of life/satisfaction, and masticatory performance, LO could be considered as a predictable occlusal scheme for complete dentures, while CG could be used to reduce muscular activity.
