Better collaterals are independently associated with post-thrombolysis recanalization before thrombectomy
Stroke Apr 13, 2019
Seners P, et al. - In this proof-of-concept study, which included 224 eligible patients, researchers tested the premises that good collaterals independently predict post-intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) recanalization before thrombectomy. Better collaterals were independently linked to post-IVT recanalization in the sample of patients with stroke imaging with perfusion-weighted imaging prior to IVT and intended for thrombectomy, supporting the hypothesis. These outcomes reinforce the idea that advanced imaging can play a key role in identifying subjects with large vessel occlusion most likely to benefit from IVT in the thrombectomy era for personalized medicine.
