Bacteriology and cefuroxime-resistance in endophthalmitis following cataract surgery before and after the introduction of prophylactic intracameral cefuroxime: A retrospective single-centre study
Journal of Hospital Infection Feb 18, 2018
Friling E, et al. - The researchers aimed at analyzing bacteriology and susceptibility to cefuroxime in endophthalmitis following cataract surgery before and after the introduction of prophylactic intracameral cefuroxime. A reduction of the rate of endophthalmitis was achieved following cataract surgery with intracameral cefuroxime. Its introduction brought about a shift in pathogens from cefuroxime sensitive to cefuroxime resistant organisms.
