Atopic Dermatitis in America Study: A cross-sectional study examining the prevalence and disease burden of atopic dermatitis in the US adult population
Journal of Investigative Dermatology Nov 02, 2018
Chiesa Fuxench ZC, et al. - Researchers assessed the prevalence and distribution of atopic dermatitis disease severity in the United States, and evaluated its impact on health-related quality of life. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis among the 1,278 participating adults was 7.3%. They classified 60.1% of participants as mild, 28.9% as moderate, and 11% as severe. Data indicated that 16.5 million adults would have atopic dermatitis, with 6.6 million meeting the criteria for moderate-to-severe disease. Findings, therefore, confirmed the high prevalence and disease burden of atopic dermatitis in this population.
