American Journal of Hypertension Jun 12, 2021
Jing Y, Zhou H, Lu H, et al. - This study sought to evaluate if the change in blood microbiome is associated with the risk of hypertension remains unclear. Researchers recruited a total of 150 incident hypertension cases and 150 age (± 2 years) and gender (1:1) matched non-hypertension controls in this nested case-control study from a prospective cohort study of “135”. Bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing was used to define the composition of the blood microbiome. It was shown that composition of the blood microbiome is significantly correlated with the development of hypertension.
