The Journal of Hand Surgery Oct 20, 2019
Cheng C, et al. - Through a retrospective chart review done for all individuals assessed by a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon, for cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) between December 2013 and January 2018 at a tertiary referral center, researchers assessed the correlation of insurance type on the severity of CuTS. For assessment and treatment of CuTS, publicly insured individuals were notably postponed in visiting an orthopedic surgeon and they manifested with more serious clinical and electrodiagnostic findings in comparison with privately insured individuals. These findings infer that among other socioeconomic factors, insurance type could be a obstacle to CuTS care.
