Association of visit-to-visit variability in blood pressure and first stroke risk in hypertensive patients with chronic kidney disease
Journal of Hypertension Mar 11, 2020
Li Y, Zhou H, Liu M, et al. - By performing this post-hoc analysis of the China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial, researchers assessed the association of visit-to-visit variability in blood pressure (BP) with stroke risk, as well as they, investigated any likely effect modifiers in hypertensive patients suffering from mild-to-moderate chronic kidney disease (CKD). This analysis involved 3,091 patients exhibiting an estimated glomerular filtration rate 30–60 ml/min per 1.73 m2 and/or proteinuria at baseline, with no occurrence of stroke, but with BP measurements of at least two visits from randomization to the 12-month visit. Findings revealed a significant link between visit-to-visit variability in BP and the risk of subsequent first stroke among hypertensive adults with mild-to-moderate CKD.
