Association of the rs495392 Klotho polymorphism with atheromatosis progression in patients with chronic kidney disease
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Jul 19, 2018
Valdivielso JM, et al. - In this multicentre, prospective, observational study of 1439 chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients from the NEFRONA cohort, researchers investigated the role of 11 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the Klotho gene on the rate of atherosclerosis progression in CKD. They carried out the genotyping of 11 SNPs of the Klotho gene and used multivariate logistic regression to determine its association with atheromatosis progression, which was defined as an increase in the number of territories with plaque. They observed a decrease in the odds of progression of atheromatosis in relation to the presence of the allele T of the SNP rs495392 of the Klotho gene in CKD patients.
