Association of statin use with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage: A cohort study
Neurology Aug 03, 2018
Saliba W, et al. - In a large nationwide study, researchers investigated the dose-dependent relationship between statin exposure and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). They used a computerized database of the largest health care provider in Israel to determine diagnosed ICH among new users of statins who started treatment with a statin between 2005 and 2010. Using the average atorvastatin equivalent daily dose (AAEDD), they evaluated a dose-response relationship between ICH and statins. They found that the risk of ICH is reduced as cholesterol levels increase. Still, results of this study suggested that statin use might be correlated with lowered risk of ICH.
