Association of serum Sestrin2 level with metabolic risk factors in newly diagnosed drug-naïve type 2 diabetes
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Aug 16, 2018
Chung HS, et al. - In newly diagnosed drug-naïve type 2 diabetes, researchers explored the association between circulating Sestrin2 concentration and cardiometabolic risk factors including body composition, insulin resistance, and atherosclerosis via measuring Sestrin2 concentration in 240 subjects (46 without diabetes and 194 with diabetes). Researchers, for the first time, showed a trend for the increased Sestrin2 level in patients with metabolic syndrome. They found that Sestrin2 level had significant positive associations with metabolic risk factors. It was noted that Sestrin2 level was related to insulin resistance and body composition in diabetes.
