Association of serum galectin-3 with risks of death and vascular events in acute ischaemic stroke patients: The role of hyperglycemia
European Journal of Neurology Dec 13, 2018
Zeng N, et al. - In all, 3082 subjects involved in assessing the prognostic impact of galectin-3 among ischaemic stroke patients stratified by fasting plasma glucose (FPG), the composite results of death and vascular events as primary outcome and death, stroke recurrence and vascular events as secondary outcomes were investigated. The multivariate-adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) were observed at 1.72, 2.64 and 2.68 for the primary outcome, stroke recurrence and vascular events, respectively. A linear association was found between galectin-3 and primary outcome. Increased galectin-3 had also been analyzed in association with stroke recurrence and vascular events in patients with hyperglycemia, but not with normoglycemia.
