Association of salivary microRNA changes with prolonged concussion symptoms
JAMA Pediatrics Nov 24, 2017
Johnson JJ, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the efficacy of salivary microRNAs (miRNAs). The intent was to detect children with concussion who were at risk for prolonged symptoms. A possibility arose that salivary miRNA levels could determine the duration and character of concussion symptoms. This could cause a reduction in the parental anxiety, thereby improving the care by providing a tool for concussion management. Additional validation of this approach was warranted.
