Association of pharmacological interventions with symptom burden reduction in patients with mild traumatic brain injury: A systematic review
JAMA May 18, 2021
Feinberg C, Carr C, Zemek R, et al. - The researchers wanted to conduct a systematic review of studies on pharmacological interventions and their associations with symptom burden reduction in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), as well as to use an evidence-based model to identify potential directions for future research that could aid in clinical decision-making. Articles published between January 1, 2000, and July 1, 2020, were scrutinized. In total, 1,495 articles were identified; 131 of them were eliminated as duplicates. This systematic review discovered a scarcity of high-quality, clinically relevant studies, especially among children and individuals in the acute stage of injury; thus, performing an evidence-based analysis to inform clinical decision-making was not possible.
