Association of panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and benzodiazepine treatment during pregnancy with risk of adverse birth outcomes
JAMA Psychiatry Sep 20, 2017
Yonkers KA, et al. - The present study was designed to ascertain whether panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in pregnancy or medications used to treat these conditions were correlated with adverse maternal or neonatal pregnancy outcomes. The authors revealed that panic disorder and GAD did not contribute to adverse pregnancy complications. During pregnancy, women could require treatment with medications, which could shorten the duration of gestation slightly. Furthermore, maternal treatment with a serotonin reuptake inhibitor was correlated with the hypertensive disease of pregnancy and cesarean delivery.
