Osteoporosis International Nov 26, 2019
Bai J, Liang Y, Zhang P, et al. - In this meta-analysis, 21 cohort studies recruiting a total of 6,288 individuals were involved in order to evaluate the correlation between postoperative delirium (POD, a prevalent complication in old surgical people) and mortality in old people who underwent hip fractures surgery. POD was related to an uptick in perioperative mortality. This meta-analysis showed that nearly one-fourth of persons undergoing hip fracture surgery would develop POD, and in these individuals, delirium raised the short-term and long-term mortality.
