Association between plasma concentration of copper and gestational diabetes mellitus
Clinical Nutrition Jan 09, 2019
Li P, et al. - Between August 2012 and April 2015, a case-control study of 248 cases of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and 248 age-, parity- and gestational age-matched controls was conducted to determine if plasma copper (Cu) concentration is linked to GDM in Wuhan, China. In order to estimate the interrelation between plasma Cu and GDM risk factors, partial Spearman or Pearson correlation coefficients have been calculated. Data showed odds of GDM are significantly increased in association with higher concentrations of plasma Cu. In addition, Cu concentrations were positively related to fasting plasma glucose, 1-hour post-glucose load, and 2-hour post-glucose load.
