Association between periodontal health status and patient-reported outcomes in patients managed in a non-specialist, general dental practice
Journal of Clinical Periodontology Nov 21, 2018
Sharma P, et al. - In a large cohort of patients based in non-specialist general dental practice, experts evaluated the associations between periodontal status and patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Worse periodontal health and the prevalence of PROs were positively associated. After adjustment for confounders, pain/discomfort was demonstrated by 13.8% of patients in the healthiest category vs 20.7% of patients in the worst category. They noted a similar trend with reporting a restricted diet and unhappiness with appearance. These findings highlighted the benefits of prevention and management of periodontitis.
