Association between homocysteine, vitamin B12, folic acid and erectile dysfunction: A cross-sectional study in China
BMJ Open May 28, 2019
Chen Y, et al. - In this cross-sectional study involving 1381 candidates, authors investigated the connection between homocysteine (HCY), vitamin B12 (B12), folic acid (FA) and erectile dysfunction (ED) [defined as the inability to acquire and maintain satisfying sexual intercourse with a sufficient erection. Researchers, for the first time, reported a link between B12 levels and ED. They also found specific men's cohorts that are most prominent in the relationship between HCY levels and ED. There has been no association between FA and ED. Additional studies are needed to elucidate the mechanisms underlying these relationships-this can ultimately lead to new ED therapies.
