Dermatology Mar 31, 2021
Almuhanna N, et al. - In this study, the relationship between hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and inflammatory arthritis was explored. Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis according to the PRISMA guidelines to distinguish the relationship between HS and inflammatory arthritis, spondyloarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They entered seven studies in the analysis, with 200,361 HS patients and 385,599 controls. The data exhibited that HS patients have a 3-fold increased risk of developing inflammatory arthritis. It has been reported that HS patients are specifically at a higher risk for spondyloarthritis, its subtype AS, and RA.
