Association between calcium or vitamin D supplementation and fracture incidence in community-dwelling older adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis
JAMA | Jan 05, 2018
Zhao JG, et al. - Researchers ascertained if calcium, vitamin D, or combined calcium and vitamin D supplements exhibited a correlation with a lower fracture incidence in community-dwelling older adults. The findings did not disclose any connection between the use of supplements that included calcium, vitamin D, or both compared with placebo or no treatment with a lower risk of fractures among the study cohort. Hence, the authors did not support the routine use of these supplements in community-dwelling older individuals.
