Assessment of the effect of urethral plate width on outcome of hypospadias repair
Journal of Pediatric Urology Oct 07, 2019
Chukwubuike KE, et al. - Through a prospective assessment of patients (n = 42) operated for hypospadias, researchers demonstrated the cosmetic and functional outcomes of hypospadias repair in association with the width of the urethral plate. The individuals were classified into group A (a urethral plate width less than 8 mm; n = 20) and group B (urethral plate greater or equal to 8mm; n = 22). It was concluded that the cosmetic outcome of hypospadias repair could not be concluded by urethral plate width however the functional outcome may be prognosticated by the width of the urethral plate.
