Assessment of ovarian reserve after cystectomy vs 'one-step' laser vaporization in the treatment of ovarian endometrioma: A small randomized clinical trial
Human Reproduction Oct 12, 2018
Candiani M, et al. – In this small, multicenter, randomized clinical trial, researchers investigated the efficacy of CO2 laser vaporization vs traditional cystectomy in treating endometrioma in terms of ovarian reserve preservation in a cohort of 60 study participants who were randomized to laparoscopic stripping: cystectomy or CO2 laser vaporization. On assessing both antral follicle count and serum anti-Müllerian hormone levels as measures of ovarian reserve, they identified that CO2 technology caused minimal damage to adjacent healthy ovarian tissue and could be an alternative treatment for endometrioma.
