Assessment of microRNA-146a in generalized aggressive periodontitis and its association with disease severity
Journal of Periodontal Research Oct 20, 2018
Ghotloo S, et al. - In patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP), puthors assessed the level of miR-146a expressed in gingival tissues and its association with disease severity. MiR-146a was linked to GAgP, and miR-146a may indicate severity of periodontal disease. Compared with healthy controls, levels of miR-146a expressed in patients with GAgP were elevated, which had a direct correlation with disease severity. Reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines were accompanied by overexpression of miR-146a.
