Aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs, statins, and risk of non‐hodgkin lymphoma
International Journal of Cancer Mar 05, 2021
Liebow M, Larson MC, Thompson CA, et al. - This study was attempted to explore the self‐reported use of non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and statins in a clinic‐based study of 1703 non‐Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients and 2,199 frequency‐matched controls. Researchers used unconditional logistic regression to calculate odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CI), adjusted for potential confounding variables. The findings revealed that a low‐dose aspirin but not regular/extra-strength aspirin, other NSAIDs, or statin use was correlated with the lower risk of NHL. This study’s data demonstrate, beyond the potential for the primary prevention of NHL, these findings also focus on the role of antiplatelet or other effects of low‐dose aspirin in lymphomagenesis that warrants follow‐up.
