Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology Aug 19, 2017
Marujo AT, et al. – This trial strived to gauge the histological outcome of atypical squamous cells cannot exclude high–grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASC–H) cytology and to investigate the accuracy of colposcopy in predicting high–grade histological lesions. A strong link was reported between ASC–H and high–grade histological lesions. Hence, immediate analysis of patients with this cytology abnormality was compulsory. Colposcopy, when performed by expertise clinicians, displayed great accuracy in identifying high–grade lesions. Histological evaluation of patients with type 3 transformation zone (TZ) was highly significant since almost 50% of patients presented with this type of lesions.
