Antipsychotic use and risk of life-threatening medical events: Umbrella review of observational studies

Papola D, et al. - Researchers reviewed 68 observational studies from six systematic reviews in order to measure the antipsychotics associated risk of hip fracture, thromboembolism, stroke, myocardial infarction, pneumonia, and sudden cardiac death. Outcomes revealed the strongest association of antipsychotic exposure with pneumonia, followed by the association with hip fracture, and thromboembolism. The strength of association was weak for stroke, sudden cardiac death, and myocardial infarction.
