Antimicrobial efficacy of a novel povidone iodine contact lens disinfection system
Contact Lens and Anterior Eye Dec 13, 2017
Yamasaki K, et al. - An inquiry was set up for inspecting a novel povidone-iodine (PI) contact lens (CL) disinfection system (cleadew, Ophtecs Corporation, Japan) against a range of bacterial, fungal and Acanthamoeba. It was reported that the PI system was effective against a variety of pathogenic microorganisms under a range of test conditions. For safe CL wear, strict compliance to recommended CL hygiene procedures was found to be crucial. In order to prevent potentially sight-threatening microbial keratitis, the use of care systems such as PI, with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity, could be beneficial.
