Anthropometric indices as surrogates for estimating abdominal visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue: A meta-analysis with 16,129 participants

Ping Z, et al. - Experts conducted a meta-analysis to investigate anthropometric indices that estimate visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue (VAT and SAT) and the predictive efficacy of different patient characteristics. In this meta-analysis, 29 publications were involved. The findings from the present study suggested that waist circumference (WC) might be a common and simple surrogate for estimating VAT, and body mass index seemed best for SAT, particularly in Europeans, but not in aged people.
