Anteroposterior balance reactions in children with spastic cerebral palsy
Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology Mar 06, 2020
Crenshaw JR, Petersen DA, Conner BC, et al. - Researchers conducted this observational, cross-sectional study to contrast anterior and posterior standing balance reactions, as measured by single-stepping thresholds, in children with and without spastic cerebral palsy (CP). Participants in the study were 17 ambulatory children with spastic CP and 28 typically developing children. No between-group differences were noted in posterior thresholds. Age- and direction-specific are the effects of CP on balance reactions. Older typically developing children are more able or willing to prevent a move in stressful conditions.
