Ankle fusion after failed ankle replacement in rheumatic and non-rheumatic patients
Foot and Ankle Surgery Aug 30, 2018
Kruidenier J, et al. - In a consecutive group of patients, researchers gauged the clinical, radiographic and patient-reported results for fusion after failed total ankle replacements (TAR). For failed TAR, a higher nonunion rate after ankle fusion was seen in inflammatory joint disease (IJD)-patients. Nonetheless, findings did not suggest significantly different patient-reported outcome between the two groups. In the IJD group, revisions and complications were more frequent, but numbers were too small to detect a significant difference.
