Analysis of the clinicopathological characteristics and their trends among patients with lung cancer undergoing surgery in a tertiary cancer hospital of north China during 2000–2013
Journal of Thoracic Disease Aug 05, 2018
Ji X, et al. - Researchers examined clinicopathological features and trends of newly diagnosed lung cancer patients who underwent surgery in a tertiary cancer hospital of north China between 2000 and 2013. They carried out retrospective data collection for these patients using their medical records. They used surgery or puncture, bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, and sputum cytology as modes to confirm pathological diagnosis. Findings revealed a significant increase in the proportion of female patients with lung cancer eligible for surgery. They reported a decrease in the proportion of patients with squamous cell carcinoma while an increase was seen in adenocarcinoma (ADC), which was primarily attributable to the increase in the number of female patients with ADC.
