Analysis of mortality after hip fracture on patient, hospital, and regional level in Germany
Osteoporosis International Apr 24, 2020
Schulz C, König HH, Rapp K, et al. - This study was undertaken to evaluate change of mortality after hip fracture on patient, hospital, and regional level in Germany. A retrospective cohort study was conducted to include hip fracture patients aged 65 and older using statutory health insurance claims data Between Jan 2009 and Dec. 2012 and additional information from the Federal Statistical Office Germany. A multilevel Cox proportional hazard model with random intercepts on hospital and regional level was used to evaluate the risk factors for mortality within 6 and 12 months after hip fracture. After hip fracture, the evaluation of patient-related risk factors enables predicting mortality. After adjusting for those, change appeared to be attributable rather to hospitals than to regions.
