An eight-month randomized controlled trial on the use of intra-oral cameras and text messages for gingivitis control among adults
International Journal of Dental Hygiene Mar 01, 2019
Araujo MR, et al. - A total of 142 candidates were randomized into four conditions: intra-oral camera (IOC), text messages (TM), IOC+TM, and control to assess the consequences of intra-oral camera (IOC) use during a dental hygiene consultation and mobile text messages (TM) between appointments on clinical, behavioral, and psychological parameters of gingivitis cases. They recorded improvement in clinical, behavioral, and psychological parameters of periodontal health 4 months after the treatment, maintained at 8 months’ follow-up using the IOC in consultation and TM between appointments. No impact of psychological determinants was observed responsible for these effects.
