Age-dependent trigeminal and female-specific lumbosacral increase in herpes zoster distribution in the elderly

Shirak K, et al. - Authors conducted this study to probe the effects of age and sex on the characteristics of the distribution of herpes zoster (HZ). Results demonstrated that the incidence of HZ increased with age. Furthermore, the risk could be increased by the exposure to ultraviolet rays, childbirth, and breastfeeding at specific dermatomes in older patients. Findings provided important information on the etiology of HZ.
