Aerobic exercise and fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis participants: A meta-analysis using the minimal important difference approach
Arthritis Care & Research Dec 04, 2018
Kelley GA, et al. - Researchers provided more robust and clinically relevant information on the association between land-based aerobic exercise and changes in self-reported fatigue among adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using the minimal important difference (MID) vs the standardized mean difference (SMD) approach. Utilizing the MID approach, data from a previous meta-analysis of 5 randomized controlled trials representing up to 298 participants per study were used to calculate 9 effect sizes. Land-based aerobic exercise is related to statistically significant fatigue reductions, but it is unlikely that a substantial number of RA participants could achieve clinically relevant fatigue reductions based on previous cutting points.
