Adnexal torsion in children and adolescents: A retrospective review of 245 cases at a single institution
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Jul 19, 2018
Adeyemi-Fowode O, et al. - Researchers reviewed the institutional outcomes for Adnexal torsion (AT) cases, including salvage rates and complications. This study was IRB- approved at Baylor College of Medicine. From 2007 to 2016, they performed a retrospective chart review of cases of AT at a single Children’s hospital on the basis of ICD-10 and CPT codes. The review yielded 245 torsion cases in 237 patients (mean age: 12.4 +/- 3.29 years). Minimally invasive laparoscopy was performed on 94 % of the participants with ovarian preservation in 95% of the cases. Findings provide further support to the conservative management of AT cases.
