Added value of 50-gene panel sequencing to distinguish multiple primary lung cancers from pulmonary metastases - A systematic investigation
Journal of Molecular Diagnostics Apr 08, 2018
Roepman P, et al. - Researchers attempted to estimate the value of routine morphological and immunohistochemical characteristics, p53 protein expression, TP53 mutation analysis, and 50-gene panel sequencing on the lesions obtained from patients with multiple lung lesions. Yielded data did not disclose any separation in overall survival for classifications based on immuno-histopathology. Using 50-gene sequencing, clear but non-significant trend was brought to light with regard to the survival of multiple primary lung cancer patients. It was determined that panel sequencing offered additional information for improving the differentiation between multiple primary lung cancers or pulmonary metastases in approximately one-third of the patients.
