Acute myocardial infarction outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (from the nationwide inpatient sample)
American Journal of Cardiology Oct 25, 2018
Ando T, et al. - Experts assessed whether in-hospital outcomes and management of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-STEMI (NSTEMI) are different in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) vs those without SLE. Findings mostly suggested similarity between the in-hospital mortality, coronary artery bypass surgery, and medical therapy rates, as well as major adverse events, but the rate of percutaneous coronary intervention was higher in SLE. Between SLE and non-SLE cohorts, hospital cost and length of stay were similar for both STEMI and NSTEMI. Between SLE and non-SLE, the in-hospital outcomes of acute coronary syndrome were similar.
