Achievement of remission in two early rheumatoid arthritis cohorts implementing different treat-to-target strategies
Arthritis & Rheumatology Mar 06, 2020
Norvang V, Brinkmann GH, Yoshida K, et al. - This study intended to correlate achievement of remission in two early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treat-to-target (TTT) cohorts, one tight control cohort targeting stringent remission in a randomized controlled strategy trial and one observational cohort targeting a looser definition of remission in clinical practice. Researchers examined data from the ARCTIC trial and the NOR-VEAC observational study. A total of 189 individuals from ARCTIC and 330 individuals from NOR-VEAC were recruited. In both cohorts, a majority of individuals reached the study-specific treatment targets. During follow-up, more individuals in ARCTIC than in NOR-VEAC achieved ACR/EULAR Boolean remission, implying that targeting a more stringent definition of remission provides further potential for favorable outcomes of a TTT strategy.
